Research on Aluminum Alloy Joining Technologies in AutomobileManufacturing

Abstract

With the energy and environmental problems becoming increasingly prominent, automobile lightweight asan effective energy- saving and emission reduction technology has become an important development trend in the globalautomotive industry. This paper elaborates the kinds of aluminum alloys commonly applied in automobile manufacturing,and systematically analyses the weldability of Al/Al and Al/steel. This paper summarizes the advanced joining technologiesfor aluminum alloy body manufacturing, including resistance spot welding, arc welding, laser welding, friction stir welding,flow drill screw driving, self- piercing riveting, clinching and glue joint. The application status, advantages anddisadvantages of aluminum alloy joining technologies are summarized, and the future development trend is prospected
