Research on Control Efficiency of Electromagnetic Linear Eddy Current Braking Device for Medium-low Speed Maglev Trains

Journal Title: Urban Mass Transit - Year 2024, Vol 27, Issue 4

Abstract

Objective Linear eddy current braking device is one of the key technologies for maglev trains, but this technology is still not mature enough. It is of great theoretical significance and application value to study the eddy current braking technology. Method A model of linear eddy current braking device for medium-low speed maglev trains is established, and the formula for calculating the total eddy current braking force F is derived. To verify the deceleration efficiency of the designed eddy current braking device, an eddy current physical device is developed and a test bench experiment is carried out. A model of electromagnetic eddy current braking torque control system is established, and based on open-loop control, PID (proportional-integral-derivative) control, and fuzzy control three control algorithms, the respective medium-low speed maglev train braking force characteristic curves are obtained. The electromagnetic eddy current braking efficiency of medium-low speed maglev trains is then thoroughly analyzed. Result & Conclusion Comparing the simulation results with the experimental measurements, the changing trends of the train braking force are almost identical, indicating a high credibility of the derived mathematical model. The open-loop control algorithm exhibits significant overshooting, while the fuzzy control algorithm outperforms the PID control algorithm.
