RESEARCH ON THE EFFECT OF GENDER ASSIMMER ON THE ECONOMY: CAUSES, CONSEQUENCES

Abstract

The theoretical aspects and causes of gender inequality taking into account the historical aspect, as well as in modern conditions in world practice are investigated. In addition to the differentiation classifications, social inequality between sexes is one of the main characteristics of modern societies. Despite the fact that the discrimination of women in the education system has now disappeared, it exists in a weakened state of labour, politics, and especially families. In industrial society appeared a special form of gender-specific division of labor in the workplace, in public life and in privacy. Between women and men, there were typical differences in social life and social role requirements, which were also reflected in the processes of socialization, relating to gender features, regarding personality, attitude, motivation and behavior. The article argues that socio-structural analysis suggests that social inequality between women and men is not due to natural and biological differences but is substantially based on social reasons. There are a number of so-called structural factors that determine the difference in salaries: women work less often in managerial positions than men; women work more often than men in sectors where the salary level is lower, which is usually women who interrupted their careers or are on a part-time basis due to the birth of children. Also, the author of the article researched the influence of the gender gap on the economy of several countries and proposes ways to reduce it.
