Abstract

The unique geographical location of the Black Sea region, lying at the crossroads of different cultures and civilizations, makes it a focus for a wide variety of international programs that address the most acute problems of the modern world. These problems include those involving the study of the environment and its responses to anthropogenic activities. The breadth of associated research requires the joint efforts of scientists from different disciplines.
