Journal Title: INDIAN JOURNAL OF MENTAL HEALTH - Year 2016, Vol 3, Issue 4

Abstract

Background: Adolescence is well known as a challenging phase. One of the determinants of adolescent mental health is the Socio-Economic Status (SES). Lower the SES, higher are the risks for mental health issues. However, resilience could avert this risk. Among many, Self-Esteem is one of the intrinsic factors for resilience. Understanding resilience and self-esteem of adolescents from Lower Socio-Economic Status (LSES) would enable professionals to design programs specifically for adolescents from LSES.
