Response of Post-Thyroidectomy Laryngeal Oedema to Frusemide: A Case Report
Journal Title: Scholars Journal of Medical Case Reports - Year 2014, Vol 2, Issue 7
Abstract
Postoperative airway complications after thyroid surgery remain a nightmare for both the surgeons and anaesthesiologists. Recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy, hypocalcemia and haematoma are commonly encountered after total thyroidectomy. Laryngeal oedema remains a less known entity. We report a case of laryngeal oedema where we were saved of any airway instrumentation by the response of frusemide. Keywords: Post-thyroidectmy, delayed, laryngeal oedema, stridor, fruesmide
