REVIEW OF PHARMACEUTICAL CARE PROGRAM FOR TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS

Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease condition characterized by hyperglycemia, which if uncontrolled leads to various short terms and long-term complications. Type 2 Diabetes mellitus account for 90-95% of those with Diabetes mellitus The prevalence rate of Type 2 Diabetes mellitus is high in India and is expected to rise. This rise is due to low literacy rate, lack of public awareness, lack of advanced healthcare facilities and sedentary lifestyle. The contribution of pharmacists in diabetes management is so far not documented in India. Grounded on literature revise we concluded that evaluate the „knowledge‟ „attitude‟ and „practice of diabetics‟ „drug prescribing pattern, and the impact of pharmaceutical care program on glycemic control, direct cost Involvement and patient satisfaction Evidence suggests that pharmaceutical care produces improvements in glycemic control; however, little is known about its impact on humanities outcomes such as health-related quality of life (HRQoL). This review aimed to address this gap. Diabetes is a disease that needs more pharmacist involvement.Pharmacists could contribute to such programs through pharmaceutical care (PC). This Pharmaceutical care (PC) study will improve the quality of life (QOL), health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Pharmaceutical care is the straight, “accountable situation of medication-related care with the purpose of achieving definite outcomes that improve a patient's quality of life in Type 2 Diabetes mellitus”. The overall PC improves patients‟ outcomes, reduce cost, and promote patients quality of life. patients' satisfaction, HRQoL
