Role of government in the rapid urban growth in Iran (the Ardebil city instance study)

Abstract
Urban growth and development in Iran, like other developing countries is a rapid process that is not automatically generated, but After Islamic revolution, Regarding the increased growth of the population, development of the range and variety of the government tasks and interventions end the necessity of the performing of civil and logistic programs and consequently the increased number of ministries and administrative organizations, the process of increasing the country division was fast growing. So, the number of the provinces which was 23 in the last years to Islamic revolution reached to 31 in 2011. Government role in urban growth of Ardebil-after being the province center in 1993 was in fluential. So, in the current study, the role of government in rapid urban growth in Iran and the urbanization development mechanisms in Ardebil will be studied and analyzed, emphasizing the measures of the government. Current descriptive– analytical study was concluded from the resources. A questionnaire relating to the government role in urban growth of Ardebil prepared and distributed among urban authorities of Ardebil that generally included staf of the municipalities and related urban organizations. After information gathering, data analyzed using SPSS statistical software and finally, conclusion and suggestion presented.
