Safety of Shipping when Navigating on the PS Class Container Vessel “Emma Maersk” While Approaching DCT Terminal in Gda?sk Port Pó?nocny
Journal Title: TransNav, the International Journal on Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation - Year 2016, Vol 10, Issue 3
Abstract
In this paper author presents the methods that can be used for estimating the safety of shipping (navigational risk) in the restricted sea areas of the Gulf of Gdansk by means of a three-dimensional model of ship’s domain specified for the PS Class container vessels “Emma Maersk”. The essence of the method suggested in the thesis is the systematic approach to a sea vessel operation in the aspect of estimating its safety while approaching DCT terminal in Gda?sk Port Pó?nocny in the divergent exterior conditions.

Determination of the Tankers’ Drift During STS Operation - Simulation Study
The safety of the tankers during the Ship-to-Ship operations carried out in shallow water close to port limit is influenced by many factors. Based on the experience of ship crew involved in STS operation it was found tha...
The Choice of the Maneuver of the Vessel’s Passing Considering the Coordination’s System of the Interactive Vessels and Their Dynamic Characteristics
The maneuver of the altering course of the vessel is a more preferable to avoid a collision. Due to that the calculation of the parameters of the avoidance maneuver should be done considering the dynamic characteristics...
Measuring Container Port Complementarity and Substitutability with Automatic Identification System (AIS) Data – Studying the Inter-port Relationships in the Oslo Fjord Multi-port Gateway Region
This paper considers the degree of competition among small and medium-sized container ports located in a multi-port gateway region. The level of port competition is evaluated by means of an analysis of the revealed prefe...
Vessels Route Planning Problem with Uncertain Data
The purpose of this paper is to find a solution for route planning in a transport networks, where the costs of tracks, factor of safety and travel time are ambiguous. This approach is based on the Dempster-Shafer theory...
Conversion Timing of Seafarer’s Decision-making for Unmanned Ship Navigation
The aim of this study is to construct an unmanned ship swarms monitoring model to improve autonomous decision-making efficiency and safety performance of unmanned ship navigation. A framework is proposed to determine the...
