SCHOOL-FATHER RELATION IN EARLY CHILDHOOD PERIOD IN TERMS OF SOME VARIABLES

Abstract
The current study was carried out to investigate the relation between school and father in early childhood period in terms of some variables. The population of the study was made up of fathers of the children attending to independent kindergartens in the city centre of Ankara and the sampling of the research was comprised of total 393 fathers of three children chosen from each class randomly. As the data collection tool, “Personal Information Form” and “Teacher Family Communication and Cooperation Scale” developed by Tezel Şahin and Atabey (2014) were used. The data obtained was analysed with the package program of SPSS 20 and correlational research method was used. School-Father relation level was determined as “Above and Below 27% Segments”. “Above 27% segment” was defined as high, “Below 27% Segment” was defined as low and those in between them were defined as “Medium level”. In order to determine the relation between school and father through some variables, “Mann-Whitney U”, “Kruskal-Wallis H” tests and “Correlation” analysis were benefitted. As the significance level, 0.05 was taken. At the end of the research, it was found that 19.593% of the fathers realized positive communication at low level, 60.560% at medium level and 19.847% at high level; 24.682% of fathers met the expectations of teachers at low level, 56.489% at medium level, 18.830% at high level; 23.155% of fathers made cooperation at low level, 58.779% at medium level and 18.066% at high level. It was also found that the marital status of father had an effect on “Communication”, “Expectation”, “Cooperation” levels; the age of father had an effect on “Communication” level; the number of household living in the family other than parents and children had an effect on “Expectation” level. It was determined that the education status of father, the working condition of mother and the income of father did not have an effect on the levels of “Communication”, “Expectation”, “Cooperation. In line with the results of the research, some recommendations were given to educators, families and researchers.
