Scientific principles of the phytotoxicological research

Abstract

The article highlights the scientific principles of Phytotoxicology as an independent scientific environmental branch. We proposed the main ideas of Phytotoxicology. The subject of Phytotoxicology is the pollutants assessment of harmful effect on plants in the ecosystem. The object of Phytotoxicology is the phytotoxic properties of the pollutants and their effect on plants. Phytotoxicology began to be formed as a scientific branch due to full and all-round, but at the same time, dissected researching of the phytotoxicity process in different ecosystems levels. Many authors reveal the Phytotoxicity effects as a concrete fact in specific conditions for specific plants. However, there is lack of researching systematization and generalization ideas in this sphere. Although the problem of pollutants toxicity effect on is still really actual. We proposed the scheme of pollutants migration and bioaccumulation in agroecosystem and natural ecosystem (in example of metals). The general formalization of pollutants migration in the ecosystem is: IMP = EMP + BCP, where: IMP - immigration of pollutants to ecosystem, EMP - emigration of pollutants from ecosystem, BCP – bioaccumulation of pollutants in ecosystem. This formalization depends on phytotoxicological valence of the ecosystem and on the phytonocosicological pollutant hazard. The phytotoxicological valence of the ecosystem is the ability of the plant complex to hold the homeostasis despite the pollutants impact. Phytotoxicological valency determines the measure of the ability of the ecosystem to adapt to the pollutants migration. The phytotoxicological hazard of pollutants depends on the properties of the pollutants, their doses and the environment conditions. The accumulated in plants and in soil amount and proportion of pollutants (for ex. Metals) characterize the reflection of the ecosystem on pollution. Plant up-taking ability and pollutants pollution influence on soil, pollutants toxicity in ecosystem is revealed by “dose-effect” dependence.
