Sémantique référentielle et pragmatisme magiquement imagé. Le jargon des « poilus »
Journal Title: Argotica - Year 2017, Vol 0, Issue 1
Abstract
Referential semantics and magically imagined pragmatism. The jargon of “Poi-lus” In this article, we present a military jargon with argotic reflexes. It was employed under the most serious circumstances that is to say near to death. The terms made use of are brief and essentially referential. Common language is employed, especial-ly its familiar register with a slight argotic colour but there is no concealing inten-tion. Semantical innovations are created due to the random events of the war. Their purpose is purely referential and they are created with no cultural intention at all but in view of functional goals. Pragmatics is strongly coloured with outstanding imag-es. Yet this jargon’s main function is a magically invocatory one concerning the soldiers’ familiar circumstances.
