SHEVCHENKIANA IN PRIVATE BOOK OF THE COLLECTIONS SCIENTIFIC LIBRARY OF THE ODESA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY: OF COLLECTIONS M. V. TERESHCHENKO, B. А. LUPANOV, F. E. PETRUN

Abstract

The article is dedicated to 200th anniversary of birth of the great Ukrainian poet, writer, artist and thinker T. H. Shevchenko. The purpose of the paper is to study Shevchenkiana from special collections of the Scientific Library of the Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University. The author used historical, bibliographical and systematic methods for accumulation of facts, its systematization and theoretical processing. Shevchenkiana of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Department of the Scientific Library of the ONU is represented in M. V. Tereschenko, B. O. Lupanov and F. E. Petrun special collections. Rare and valuable books and article reprints with different thematic focuses belong to these collections. The article deals with: 1) editions of the end 19th century from M. V. Tereschenko special collection, 2) editions of the beginning of 20th century on life and works by the prominent poet from B. O. Lupanov special collection, 3) editions of the first quarter of 20th century from F. E. Petrun special collection which discover relations between Ukrainian writers (T. H. Shevchenko and P. A. Kulish), the history of Shevcheko’s village as well as memories about Kobzar’s exile. University copies of editions contains valuable provenance: stamps, autographs by owners etc. The finding results may be useful for philologists, historians and bibliographers and promote study of history, literature and culture of Ukraine. Analyzed books tell about keen interest of M. V. Tereschenko, B. O. Lupanov and F. E. Pentyn to Ukrainian culture so as T. Shevchenko is its part. University Shevchenkiana from special collections contains important sources for studying personality of T. H. Shevchenko as well as historical, geographical and local lore materials for studying of the Ukrainian literature and history.
