Short term outcome of intra-articular distal femur fracture treated with distal femur locking plates
Journal Title: International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 3, Issue 3
Abstract
Objective: to study short term outcome of intra-articular distal femur fracture treated with distal femur locking plates. Introduction: Open reduction and internal fixation is the ‘Gold Standard’ treatment for the intra-articular distal femur fractures. Vehicular accidents and fall from height are common mode of injury. The goal of surgery is restoration of a stable limb for functional, pain free ambulation, maintaining anatomic alignment, length and preventing stiffness and to restore the function of the knee joint. Use of locking compression plate gives excellent functional outcome. Methodology: A cohort of 20 intra-articular distal femur fracture patients, treated with open reduction and internal fixaction using locking compression plates between September 2015 and June 2016. Results: Out of 20 patients, 3 excellent (15%), 8 good (40%). 5 fair (25%) and 4 (20%) poor results were obtained using ‘TEGNER LYSHOLM’ scoring system.

Treatment of lateral epicondylitis with autologous platelet rich plasma injection
Outcomes of traditional treatment methods of lateral epicondylitis are variable because of poor tendon healing properties secondary to poor vascularization. Platelet rich plasma provides locally high concentration of gro...
Evaluation of the results of arthroscopic double row rotator cuff repair of isolated lesions
Background: Rotator cuff tears are one of the most common soft tissue injuries. The incidence of full thickness tears of the rotators cuff ranges from 5% to 40% of all cuff tears, and increasing in frequency with age. Th...
A study of humerus shaft fractures treated with dynamic compression plating
Background and Objective: Management of humeral shaft fractures has historically been largely conservative. A significant body of literature has shown that functional bracing may achieve greater than 90% union rates and...
Surgical management of proximal tibia plateau fracture: 4 year prospective study
Introduction: Tremendous advance in mechanization and fastness of travel have been accompanied by steep increase in number and severity of fractures and those of tibial plateau are no exception. Knee being one of the maj...
Schwannomas- The problem in delay diagnosis
Schwannoma is a benign peripheral nerve sheath tumor which arises from Schwann cells which support the peripheral nerve fibers. Malignant transformation is known to be exceptionally rare. The lesion is usually solitary,...
