Short term outcome of use of locking compression plates for treatment of galeazzi fracture-dislocation using anderson & sisk score
Journal Title: International Journal of Orthopaedics Sciences - Year 2018, Vol 4, Issue 2
Abstract
Objective: The study focusses on short term outcomes of locking compression plating for treatment of Galeazzi fracture- dislocation using Anderson & Sisk score. Introduction: The Galeazzi fracture is an unstable fracture-dislocation of the forearm that includes a fracture of the shaft of the radius and a dislocation of the distal radio-ulnar joint (DRUJ). The goal of the treatment is an anatomic reduction and a rigid internal fixation of the radial fracture and also restoration of normal anatomy of the distal radio-ulnar joint. Methodology: A cohort of 15 patients with Galeazzi fracture-dislocation treated with locking compression plates between January 2016 to January 2017 were assessed for 6 months and final result was analysed using Anderson & Sisk score. Results: Using the Anderson & Sisk scoring system 86.66% patients (13) achieved excellent results, 6.66% patients (1) achieved satisfactory results and 6.66% patients (1) achieved unsatisfactory results.

Comparision of functional outcome in elderly patients with inter trochanteric fracture: Dynamic hip screw vs proximal femoral nail
Introduction: The conservative approach has high complication rate. The common problems of prolonged immobilization, decubitus ulcers, U.T.I, joint contractures, pneumonia, and thrombo-embolism contribute to the high mor...
A comparative study of outcome of displaced mid shaft clavicle fracture managed by operative versus conservative treatment
Background: With the increasing incidence of clavicle fractures due to road traffic accidents more emphasis is being given in the management of these fractures which brings about the debate of whether clavicle mid shaft...
Ulnar-sided Wrist pain due to Extensor Carpi Ulnaris tendon subluxation: A case report
raumatic Extensor Carpi Ulnaris (ECU) sublaxation is often missed and undiagnosed or wrongly diagnosed. ECU muscle plays a key role in active movement of wrist extension, ulnar deviation and also in providing suport to t...
Evaluation of functional result in different grades of compound tibial fractures by intramedullary nail
Background: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the outcomes of compound fractures of tibia shaft managed by interlocking intramedullary nailing. Methods: This is a retrospective study of 20 patients with op...
Comparative study of closed intramedullary elastic nailing vs plate osteosynthesis in diaphyseal fractures of both bones forearm in adults
Background: In the current era, fractures of forearm bones have become more common. The forearm serves an important role in the functioning of the upper extremity. Hence aggressive management through good anatomical redu...
