slugA Design Approach of Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) Algorithm for Low Power Implementation of Adaptive Noise Cancellation

Abstract

The basic theme of our paper is to implement a new idea of noise re ducti on in the real time implementation using the concepts of adaptive filters. This method uses a “Primary I nput” cont aining corrupted signal and a “Reference I nput” containing noise correlated signal in some unknown way of primary noise. The reference in put is adaptively filtered and subtracted from the primary input to obtain the signal estimate. A desired signal corrupted by an additive noise can often be recovered by an adap tive noise canceller using the Normalized Least Mean Square ( N LMS) algorithm. O ur model which is presented as one of the solutions is based on two stages of operation with the first stage based on the ALE (Adaptive Line Enhancer) filters and the second stage on NLMS (Normalized Least Mean Square) filter. This adaptive noise canceller is useful to improve the S/N ratio. This algorithm provide s an efficient performance with less computational complexity.
