Snakehood Type Of Vermiform Appendix-Case Report

Abstract

Unambiguous information of different positions and variations of a vermiform appendix is important during planning of conducting surgical and radiological procedures of appendectomy. During the 32 weeks male foetus educational dissection we found snake hood type of vermiform appendix. Vermiform appendix may be found almost anywhere in the abdominal cavity depending upon its size, state of development and rotation of the gut. It may be found in a retrocaecal, pelvic, subcaecal, preileal, postileal, retroileal, paracaecal position or it may attach to the ileum by mesoappendix. Reminding of this type of variation is also important while performing the surgeries or dissections.
