Journal Title: Теорія і практика сучасної психології - Year 2016, Vol 2, Issue
Abstract
Achieved results in psychological and pedagogical research, performed recently in the sphere of early correction, have created scholarly ground for more detailed analysis of the problem connected with the Down’s syndrome. This is why studying the level of conceptualization about inner and outer world in children with Down’s syndrome is a topical research issue. The author specifies that the process of own body conceptualization formation plays an important part in the development of self-reception. This is ensured by adequate functioning of the proprioceptive sphere. The article stresses upon the fact that such types of conceptualization have been researched as: self-conceptualization, human body, organs of sense perception, the immediate environment; objects of the world of nature: plants, wild and domestic animals, birds, fish, insects; seasonal changes in nature, their reasons. This was done with the aim of studying the state of conceptualization of the environment in children with the Down’s syndrome. The author highlights that studying of the state of environment conceptualization in children with the Down’s syndrome showed that the most represented is conceptualization about oneself, immediate environment, human body, organs of sense perception and their functions, which is explained by the fact that these things are available for the child’s personal experience. At the same time these types of conceptualization are fragmentary and inconsistent. Despite the fact that some children have conceptualization about the objects of live and non-living nature, this conceptualization is not correct and doesn’t reflect interrelations which exist between the objects and phenomena of their environment. Understanding and explanation of the cause-and-effect relations in nature present one of the most difficulties for children with the Down’s syndrome. The most complicated questions for children were the ones connected with understanding of temporary and seasonal changes in nature. Prospective study lies in correctional work on the development of conceptualization about inner and outer world in children and teenagers with the Down’s syndrome.
