Step Counting Using Smartphone-Based Accelerometer
Journal Title: International Journal on Computer Science and Engineering - Year 2012, Vol 4, Issue 5
Abstract
This paper presents a method for counting the number of steps taken by a user, while walking at any variable speed, using smartphone-based accelerometer. For this purpose, the steps are detected based on a relation between frequency of step, which varies inversely with speed of motion, and the magnitude of accelerometer signal. The pattern of the forward acceleration was observed to arrive at the final relation.

A Novel Approach for clustering web user sessions using RST
Web usage mining has assumed importance in learning about web user's behavior and user interactions with the website. It uses data mining techniques to discover non-trivial user behavior patterns. These patterns can then...
Optimization Technique for Maximization Problem in Evolutionary Programming of Genetic Algorithm in Data Mining
The optimization technique is used for the identification of some best values from the various populations. The Evolutionary algorithm is used as a basic concept of the Evolutionary Programming Strategy. To solve many of...
Cost Analysis of a Three Layered MIPv6 (TLMIPv6) Mobility Model and HMIPv6
In this paper cost analysis of a three-layer hierarchical model and HMIPv6 is done. The objective of this work is to examine the signaling cost, tunneling cost and packet dropping probability at top level anchor agents o...
Model based approach for Detection of Architectural Distortions and Spiculated Masses in Mammograms
This paper investigates detection of Architectural Distortions (AD) and spiculated masses in mammograms based on their physical characteristics. We have followed a model based approach which separates the abnormal patter...
IRIS RECOGNITION BASED ON GAUSSIAN-HERMITE MOMENTS
Iris recognition is accepted as one of the most efficient biometric method. Implementing this method to the practical system requires the special image preprocessing where the iris feature extraction plays a crucial role...
