Step Counting Using Smartphone-Based Accelerometer
Journal Title: International Journal on Computer Science and Engineering - Year 2012, Vol 4, Issue 5
Abstract
This paper presents a method for counting the number of steps taken by a user, while walking at any variable speed, using smartphone-based accelerometer. For this purpose, the steps are detected based on a relation between frequency of step, which varies inversely with speed of motion, and the magnitude of accelerometer signal. The pattern of the forward acceleration was observed to arrive at the final relation.

Recognizing faces with single sample per subject using fusion of transforms
Face recognition has attracted attention of the researchers. Face recognition becomes challenging if various factors are considered such as varying illumination, pose, facial expression and somewhat occlusion. The face r...
Optimization of Association Rule Mining through Genetic Algorithm
Strong rule generation is an important area of data mining. In this paper we design a novel method for generation of strong rule. In which a general Apriori algorithm is used to generate the rules after that we use the o...
Speech Quality Requirements over DSL Networks
Abstract— Quality of service (QoS) has been a feature of voice communication networks almost since their inception. The extension of traditional voice QoS methods to data communication networks and the Internet has been...
Q-Value Based Particle Swarm Optimization for Reinforcement Neuro-Fuzzy System Design
This paper proposes a combination of particle swarm optimization (PSO) and Q-value based safe reinforcement learning scheme for neuro-fuzzy systems (NFS). The proposed Q-value based particle swarm optimization (QPSO) ful...
Road Recognition for Vision Navigation of Robot by Using Computer Vision
This paper presents a method for vision navigation of robot by road recognition based on image processing. By taking advantages of the unique structure in road images, the square images on road can be scanned while the r...
