Strategies and Approaches for Antibiotic Yield Improvement in Actinomycetes
Journal Title: JOURNAL OF ADVANCES IN BIOTECHNOLOGY - Year 2013, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Actinomycetes represent a valuable source of commercially significant antibiotics. However, the yields of antibiotics in wild Actinomycetes usually could not meet the commercial needs and so antibiotics yield improvement is a constant requirement in the drug industry. Various methods and strategies such as traditional strain breeding methods and fermentation optimization methods have been tried and some new ideas such as gene engineering, mixed culture and quorum sensing along with empirical approaches are still on the way to gain this ultimate goal. This review will focus on the strategies and approaches for Actinomycetes antibiotics augment.

BIOBRAS-16 IMPROVES THE ACCLIMATIZATION OF SPANISH CARNATION (DIANTHUS CARYOPHYLLUS L.) PLANTS OBTAINED IN VITRO
The Spanish carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) is one of the most commercialized flowers worldwide. Its accelerated propagation is possible due to the utilization of micropropagation methods, especially if combined wit...
Ligninolytic enzymes production by Dichostereum sordulentum cultures in the presence of Eucalyptus bark as a natural laccase stimulator
A strain of a fungal species, i.e., Dichostereum sordulentum, not yet isolated from either Uruguay or decayed Eucalyptus spp. wood, was investigated for its ability of producing extracellular ligninolytic enzymes. To thi...
Evaluation of Acute and Sub-Acute Dermal Toxicity Studies of Ethanolic Leaf Extract of Lawsonia Inermis in Rats
Lawsonia inermis is one of the most significant plants used in traditional medicine. However, many details of the dermal toxicity of L. inermis remain unknown. The objective of this study is to evaluate the in vivo acute...
2G Ethanol Production From Palm Lignocellulosic Biomass
Brazil presents the world's largest potential for the production of palm oil due to nearly 75 million hectares of land suitable for palm culture and advantageous soil and climate. The biomass generated in the pro...
Improving the anti-oxidation of glucose oxidase with computer-aided structure optimization
Glucose oxidase (GOD) can be inactivated by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) produced during glucose oxidation; thus, H2O2 is a competitive inhibitor of GOD. In this mechanism, methionine (Met), a sulfur-containing amino acid, c...
