Abstract

In the article the features of the higher educational institution as a specific educational institution that operates in competitive environment in the educational market are observed. The aim of study is to demonstrate the theoretical and methodological foundations of building a system of strategic management in higher educational establishment. The study used the following methods: induction and deduction, analysis and synthesis, logic synthesis, scientific abstraction, and others. The necessity of developing and implementing methods of strategic management in higher educational establishment are grounded. Economic Development Strategy of higher educational institution should be formed based on the consideration of establishment of an open, complex and dynamic socio-economic system which constantly changes its characteristics, and therefore - alters the competitive position in the education market. The task of the mechanism of strategic management of higher educational establishment is to provide strengthening the competitive position of the institution by the most efficient use of competitive advantages. Modern tools of strategic development of higher educational establishments in contemporary global challenges is the implementation of a training practice the concept of «education for life», the creation and implementation of innovative educational technologies (including the introduction of so-called «open education»),the use of information and communication technologies as a source of strategic development of higher educational establishments, monitoring and evaluation strategy (market) position of establishments based on the calculation of ratings (rating), and others.
