Structural characterization of nano-sized Fe2O3-CeO2 catalyst by XRD, EDX and TEM techniques
Journal Title: Carbon - Science and Technology - Year 2013, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
Structural characteristics of nanosized iron-ceria mixed oxide catalysts have been investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), IR spectra, thermogravimetry, EDX and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The investigated oxides were obtained by hydrothermal method and were subjected to thermal treatments from 773 oK to 923 oK. The XRD results suggest that the sample primarily consists of nanocrystalline CeO2 phase on Fe2O3. FT-IR gives the information of the chemical bonding and the morphology and particle size by TEM. Deposition of Fe2O3 on the surface of an appropriate oxide support of high specific surface area improves the catalytic activity. The TEM results reveal welldispersed CeO2 and Fe2O3 nanocrystals.

Structural, elastic and electronic Properties of isotropic cubic crystals of carbon and silicon nanotubes : Density functional based tight binding calculations
Atomic models of cubic crystals (CC) of carbon and graphene-like Si nanotubes are offered and their structural, cohesive, elastic and electronic properties are predicted by means of the DFTB method. Our main findings are...
Enhancing anaerobic digestion of poultry litter in field digestors by incorporating in-line pre-digestor assembly
Anaerobic fermentation inside the digestor is the continuous process which results in the formation of useful biogas fuel. All feedstocks are not easily decomposable thereby necessitating the design of an “optional in-li...
Vibration analysis of angular contact ball bearing operated with copper oxide nanoparticles mixed ISO VG 68 lubricating oil
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of CuO nanoparticles on lubricating oil and vibration reduction in angular contact ball bearing. CuO nanoparticles are synthesized by using chemical method and chara...
Synthesis and photocatalytic application of α-Fe2O3/ZnO fine particles prepared by two-step chemical method
Composite iron oxide-Zinc oxide (α-Fe2O3/ZnO) was synthesized by two-step method: in the first one step uniform α-Fe2O3 particles were prepared through a hydrolysis process of ferric chloride at 80 °C. In the second step...
Evaluation of mechanical properties of natural hybrid fibers, reinforced polyester composite materials
The composite materials are replacing the traditional materials, because of its superior properties such as high tensile strength, low thermal expansion, high strength to weight ratio. The developments of new materials a...
