Journal Title: Journal of Medical Sciences - Year 2017, Vol 20, Issue 1

Abstract

Struma ovarii is a rare tumor of ovary which accounts for 1% of all ovarian tumors and 3% 0f all dermoid tumors. It belongs to the group of monodermal teratomas. We present a case of struma ovarii in a 55 year old women who presented with symptoms of pain in lower abdomen and loss of appetite for the last one month. Radiological investigations including USG, CT scan and MRI revealed a complex right adnexal lesion. Final diagnosis of struma ovarii was made on histopathological examination which revealed colloid filled thyroid follicles lined by cuboidal epithelium.
