Students’ Perception of The Development of a Digital Library for the Electronics Technology Department: A Case Study at Valenzuela City Technological College

Abstract
The presence of digital libraries as an extension of physical libraries is of utmost importance in the educational environment of universities, as they serve as essential components within the information infrastructure of the institutions. The development of digital learning resources has emerged as a response to the need for individuals to safeguard and manage documents and collections related to their historical, scientific, and personal achievements. This study seeks to gauge the perception of the ValTech Electronics Technology students on the development of a digital library for the Electronics Technology Department. A total of 150 ValTech EST students enrolled in the academic year 2023-2024 were purposively selected to participate in the research. An adapted and modified survey questionnaire was used to assess ValTech EST students' perception of the development of a digital library for the Electronics Technology Department. Frequency counts, percentages, means, and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) tests were used for statistical analysis and data handling. All questions were rated on a 4-point Likert scale with a 0.5 level of significance. Based on the findings, the efficacy of digital libraries and physical libraries obtained a t-statistics value of 3.2516 higher than the t-critical value of 1.9679 and obtained a p-value of 0.0013 which is lower than the level of significance of 0.05 which leads to the rejection of the null hypothesis and implies that there is a significant difference in the perception of the electronics technology students regarding the efficacy of digital libraries and physical libraries while the assessment of electronics technology students on the development of a digital library for the electronics technology department obtained a general weighted mean of 3.43 verbally interpreted a “Strongly Agree”. There is also no significant difference in the level of assessment of Electronics Technology students on the establishment of a digital library for the Electronics Technology Department in terms of quality of information, quality of system, user-friendly interface, accessibility, and usefulness.
