STUDENTS’ SCIENTIFIC SECTION – SCHOOL OF EXELLENCE AND CREATIVITY IN PEDIATRIC SURGERY (Devoted to 65-th anniversary of the students’ scientific section of the pediatric surgery department)

Abstract
Student research group at the Department of Pediatric Surgery was founded in year 1946 after re-evacuation of the department to Kyiv. During 65 years of the students’ scientific section activity its students made more than 250 presentations at youth conferences (including international), published nearly 500 scientific works (abstracts, literature reviews, original articles), won: gold medals and I degree diplomas – 35, silver medals and II degree diplomas – 61, bronze medals and III degree diplomas – 43. 17 times section received the title of “Best USSR students’ scientific section” on the Republic congress. The members of the section won the second stage on the Ukrainian competition in the field of “Clinical and Fundamental Medicine,” and for significant advances in scientific activity became laureates of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and the Association of medical universities of Ukraine. Today, student scientific section is a powerful cell of talented youth activity, valuable element in the training of future scientists and teachers, the first school of excellence and creativity in pediatric surgery.
