Abstract
The Water Quality Index (WQI) Is A Single Number That Expresses The Quality Of Water By Integrating The Water Quality Variables. This Paper Deals With The Assessment Of Ground Water Quality In And Around Muvattupuzha Municipality, Kerala State Of India. . For Calculating The WQI The Following 12 Physio-Chemical Parameters Such As Ph, Electric Conductivity, Total Dissolved Solids, Total Alkalinity, Chlorides, Total Hardness, Dissolved Oxygen, Fluoride, Calcium, Magnesium, Sulphate And Nitrate Have Been Considered. WQI Obtained Ranges From 31.38 To 507.14.High Value Of WQI Is Mainly Due To Higher Concentrations Of Iron Which Makes The Water Unsuitable For Drinking.
