Studies on the Diffusion of Direct Dyes in Chitosan Film

Abstract

The diffusion of two direct dyes in chitosan film under neutral conditions has been followed using the Sekido roll technique. Analysis of the concentration profiles confirms that the diffusion process is similar to that observed with direct dyes on cellulose and that the dependence of the diffusion coefficient on dye concentration follows the same general form, DC = D0(1 + βC), on both substrates.
