Overall about 75% of nondiabetic population in urban area knew what is diabetes but in rural area only 17% were aware of it. However those who were diabetic the % of awareness was high (90% and 50% respectively). The sedentary life style with high BMI were more in urban people than that of in rural area. Conclusion :Prevalence of diabetes mellitus was higher in males compared to females in both urban and rural population.
