Study of serum protein and electrophoretic pattern in pumonarytuberculosis patients
Journal Title: International Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Research - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 3
Abstract
Tuberculosis one of the oldest diseases known to affect humans particularly in under developed and developing countries and is a major cause of death worldwide This study deals with the estimation of total serum proteins albumin levels and its electrophoretic pattern in pulmonary tuberculosis patients and analyses the changes with reference to the severity of the disease The present study included a total number of 40 subjects comprising of 20 cases and 20 controls Total serum protein was estimated by modified biuret end point assay method albumin by bromocresol green end point assay method and serum protein electrophoresis using Helena electrophoretic apparatus SASMX serum protein gel Total proteins were slightly decreased in cases compared to controls value Albumin was significantly decreased in cases compared to controls Alpha1 globulins slightly increase in cases compared to controls No change in levels of alpha2 globulins in controls and cases Beta globulins very slightly decrease in cases compared to controls Gamma globulins significantly increases in cases compared to controls Students ttest was performed to test the difference between the groups The level of significance selected was Pvalue Keywords MTB Mycobacterium Tuberculosis Electrophoretic pattern of proteins

Study of serum adiponectin and lipid profile in newly diagnosed hyperthyroid patients
Introduction: Thyroid dysfunction is associated with metabolic changes that affect lipid and carbohydrate metabolism as well as adipocyte function. Adiponectin, an adipocyte derived hormone has been shown to decrease bod...
A study to assess the relation between severity of hypothyroidism and Lipid parameters
Background: Hypothyroidism is associated with dyslipidemia. The present study was conducted to assess the relation between hypothyroidism and lipid parameters and lipid ratios. It is also done to assess the severity of h...
Serum levels of SOD, MDA and glutathione peroxidase in different subtypes of cataract patients
Background: Oxidative stress is essentially an imbalance between the production of free radicals and the ability of the body to counteract or detoxify their harmful effects through neutralization by antioxidants. Since t...
Obesity, obesity related hypertension, their association with adipocytokines among 12-16 years school students
Obesity, obesity related hypertension is increasing at higher rates among adolescents these days. An increase in leptin level and a decrease in adiponectin level were observed in obese individuals with hypertension. Our...
Perinatal outcome in relation with laboratory findings in pregnancy induced hypertension(PIH)
Background: Perinatal mortality is an important indicator of the status of maternal and child health, the conditions of obstetric care and the level of economic development of a community. The perinatal mortality rate (P...
