STUDY THE EFFICACY OF YASHTIMADHU GHRUT ASCHOTANAIN IN POSTOPERATIVE TREATMENT OF LAGANA W.S.R TO CHALAZION IN COMPARISON WITH MADHU

Abstract

One of the prime important diseases from vartmagat roga (eyelid diseases) is lagana (chalazion) . Ayurveda, the ancient science of medicine of india has detailed information and description of lagana. Lagana to be precipitated by various factors such as atmospheric pollution, eye strain, due to refractive errors, habitual rubbing of the eyes or fingering of the lids and nose. Hence working in shalakyatantra outpatient department, it was observed that the percentage of patients of lagana is more. Therefore this problem was selected for scientific study. The progressive pathogenesis of disease produces various discomforting symptoms, like painless swelling in eyelids, mild heaviness in the eye lid, visual disturbance etc. To eliminate this ailment along with its symptoms, number of modalities having their own importance. In present study yashtimadhu ghrut aschotana after incision and curatage of lagana two times in a day for 7 days was performed in group a & madhu (honey) application after incision and curatage of lagana two times in a day for 7 days in group b. After statistical evaluation of both, it was found that total effect of statistically highly significant for feeling of heaviness of eye lid, moderately significant for local tenderness and swelling and both experimental and control groups were compared for wound healing period, it was found that, there was treatment given in both groups was equally effective.
