Surveying of Turkish Music Maqams that Sultan Selim III. Han Devise

Abstract
Sultans of Ottoman empire play a significant role in development of turkish music. Some of them are not only sultans but also musicians, painters, calligraphers and carpenters. Selim III (d.1808) who was the sultan of otoman empire is the most famous one among the otoman sultans in respect to musical interest and talent in the art. Selim III protected many craftmans as İsmail Dede Efendi, Hacı Sâdullah Ağa. Sultan Selim III is well-done musician and he plays tambour and the ney; he also composes a musical work by creating maqam. This study is about 18 maqam devising by Sultan Selim III and surveying of whether these maqams contribute to turkish music or not.
