Symptom Analytics of Business in the Service Industry

Abstract

The work focuses on the characteristic aspects of current problems of businesses in the service industry which are associated with the necessity of taking into account the rates of change in the technological capabilities of an enterprise. It is noted that a multistage process is typical for the development of an actual production and service system. At the same time, statistical data on changes in certain parameters of such a system reflect the results of the simultaneous influence of factors arising for objective reasons. The work demonstrates the critical importance of the fact that the development of any production and service system cannot have any natural boundaries: periods of accelerated growth in service provision interchange with periods of slower rates of interaction with consumers on receiving positive results. Periods of accelerated growth witness realization of new technological capabilities that have been determined during the periods of slower rates of interaction. The article offers a conceptual model of change in the technological capabilities of an enterprise from the service industry which reflects the character of formation and realization of strategic decisions on mixed investment in the development of the production and service system. This provides further support for the existing technological capabilities provided that new technological capabilities are simultaneously developed through more efficient choice of resources and their combination than that of the competitors.
