TENDENCIES IN DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL TERRITORIES IN ECONOMICALLY DEVELOPED COUNTRIES IN THE CONTEXT OF GLOBALIZATION

Abstract

The gradual transition from an industrial-type economy to a post-industrial (“economy of knowledge’), with the intensification of globalization processes, crucially influences rural development around the world. At the same time, it should be noted that economically developed countries play a decisive role in rural development around the world. It requires mastering tendencies of rural development in these countries. Mastering the tendencies of rural development in economically developed countries is also important due to enhancing of rural development in Ukraine as it represents one of the key ways for post-crisis recovery of national economy. Based on the statistical information and scientific researches, this article states that taking into account the importance of rural territories for world and national economic systems, it became necessary to analyze condition and characteristics of tendencies in the development of such territories under the current conditions of globalization, with an emphasis on mastering rural development in advanced economies. Based on the statistical information, theoretical and practical studies of scientists, tendencies in rural development in advanced economies have been identified, including: diversification of economic activity with an emphasis on agriculture and services sector; bilateral migration processes; state support restating; rise of rural independence and autonomy; infrastructure development; rise of innovations in various spheres of rural social and economic development; impact of globalization processes; equalization of social and economic conditions of rural functioning. Besides, this article suggests characteristic of revealed tendencies of rural development in economically developed countries. Features of rural economic activities and state support of such territories are revealed. Directions for the development of infrastructure provision and innovative activitis of rural territories in advanced economies are assessed.
