TEORIAS PEDAGÓGICAS CONTRA-HEGEMÔNICAS NO BRASIL

Abstract

From the point of view of the relationship between education and society the pedagogical theories are divided in two big groups: those that try to guide education towards the preservation of the society in which it is inserted, keeping the existing order, and those that try to guide education with a focus on the transformation of society, positioning itself against the existing order. The former are called “hegemonic pedagogies” as, corresponding to the domineering interests, tend to hegemonize the educational field. The latter are called “counterhegemonic pedagogies”, as, corresponding to the dominated interest, seek to transform the prevailing order. From that premise this text analyzes the counterhegemonic pedagogical theories in the history of the Brazilian education, addressing its main manifestations throughout the last 120 years.
