The analysis of the water legislation development in the European Union.

Abstract
The article analyzes the development of European Union water legislation, which is based on the provisions of the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes (Water Convention), the Water Framework Directive (WFD, 2000/60/EC) and its daughter directives: Groundwater (GWD, 2006/118/EC) and Environmental Quality Standards Directives (EQSD, 2008/105/EC), also Flood Directives (FD, 2007/60/EC), and other directives relating to the protection of waters against pollution and deterioration, which is included in the EU legal system and regulatory policy in the field of water resources.
