THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WEAR OF THE STAMP USED IN BACKWARD EXTRUSION OF STEEL ELEMENTS

Abstract

This research is aimed at the analysis of wear mechanisms of 32CrMoV12-28 steel stamp used in extrusion of railway bumpers. The stamp cracked, which excluded it from further use. The analysis of the stamp material was performed and its influence on the wear mechanisms operating under working conditions of the stamp was analyzed. The calculations of the wear factor were also used in this research. The results of this research show that the white layer formation is a very important phenomenon, strongly influencing crack formation in the investigated stamp. The role of the microstructure of the analyzed stamp in the crack development was also investigated. The presented results will allow one to properly select or design new tool steels for the structural parts working under tribologically difficult conditions.<br/><br/>
