The chemical mechanism of SOx formation and elimination in coal combustion process

Abstract

This paper outlines the nature of the combustion process of solid fuels. Using coal for example, the mechanism of SOx formation was presented, as well as methods of elimination of sulphur oxides from exhaust fumes. Also, the paper discusses the practical solutions for reducing SOx emissions and the benefits of employing numerical methods for predicting and reducing SOx and NOx emissions from coal combustion for energy generation purposes.
