Abstract

The aim of this paper is to show the difference between terror and horror, and focus on the construction of horror in The Monk at the level of the setting, the landscape, the meaningfulness of the psychology of characters as well as the style. These elements constitute the yardstick in the artistic foundation of this piece of work.
