The economic blockade of enterprises of the uncontrolled part of the Donbas gives its negative results

Abstract

An analysis of the impact of the economic blockade carried out in early 2017 on the enterprises of the uncontrolled part of Donbass, which functioned in the legislative field of Ukraine. Based on the analysis of statistical data on the performance of the industry of Donbass and Ukraine as a whole, during 2014-2016, there were three phases of the state of the country's economy during the period of armed conflict in the Donbas. The first phase is characterized by a fall in the great regional product (GRP) of the Donbas region due to the significant losses incurred by its industry due to the suspension of enterprises during military operations, the reduction of raw materials, the cessation of energy supplies, etc. The second phase is characterized by a further decline in production in 2015 from for the fact that a significant number of enterprises, that have remained in uncontrolled territory, either stopped work altogether or significantly reduced cooperation within the framework of the whole country. During the third phase, there is a relative improvement in performance in 2016, which is explained by the stabilization of the economic potential of Donbas and the country as a whole, the ability to recover in the conditions of the constant configuration of the military confrontation line, which remains unchanged during 2015-2017. In connection with the economic blockade of enterprises of the uncontrolled part of Donbass, the country's economy suffered significant losses, being in a new – fourth phase of its state during period of armed conflict in the Donbass, whose task is to renew its economic potential, without which it is impossible to achieve the planned volume of gross domestic product (GDP), maintaining a positive trade balance, a certain amount of foreign exchange earnings. Further investigation of the actual scale and negative consequences of the economic blockade becomes necessary for the adoption not only of economic, but also political decisions on the road to peace in the Donbas and economic growth of Ukraine as a whole.
