The Effect of Different Sowing Times on the Yield and Yield Components of Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) in Siirt Conditions

Journal Title: ISPEC Journal of Agricultural Sciences - Year 2022, Vol 6, Issue 2

Abstract

This research was carried out to determine the effect of different sowing times on the yield and yield components of the varieties of NC-7 and Halisbey groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) at the experimental site of the Faculty of Agriculture, Kezer Campus of Siirt University in the 2015 peanut production season. The experiment was set up in three replications according to the split parcel trial design in random blocks, with planting times (15 April, 30 April, 15 May, 30 May, 15 June and 30 June) for the main parcels and the cultivars sub plot. Sowing was done with a trial seeder. In the study; It was investigated characteristics such as plant length, number of plant side branches, number of pod per plant, internal rate of fruit, yield of pod per plant, seed yield per plant, 100 seed weight, yield of crustaceans, storage internal yield, crude oil ratio, and crude oil yield. As a result of the research; the Halisbey variety used as a material in the experiment was beter adapted (average yield 45.67 kg/da) to the ecological conditions of the Siirt province than NC-7 cultivar (average yield 367.86 kg/da). The highest of yield was obtained from Halisbey variety with 549.40 kg / da at 3th sowing time (15 May) and the lowest yield was obtained from NC-7 with 293.45 kg / da at 15th June (5th sowin time). The lowest plant length was taken from the NC-7 cultivar with 25.27 cm at the 5th sowing time and the highest plant length from the Halisbey cultivar with 35.27 cm at the 1st sowing time. It was found that sowing time and variety effect on yield were important as statistically, but sowing time and cultivars interaction was not found important.
