The effect of excess energy in the simulation of dendritic growth using the phase field model coupled with a CALPHAD database
Journal Title: Journal of New technology and Materials - Year 2016, Vol 6, Issue 2
Abstract
In this work, we aim to use the Warren-Boettinger model for isothermal solidification to predict the dendritic growth in binary alloys; using the phase field method coupled with a CALPHAD database (CALculation of PHase Diagram). The main benefit of this work is to study the effect of the excess energy in the phenomena of dendritic growth for the real solution. We took in consideration, the contribution of the regular solution interaction parameter associated with the excess energy of mixing solid and liquid in the phase field equation φ(x,t) and the concentration equation c(x,t). The model we proposed is able to simulate the microstructural evolution of the real solution Ni-Cu by linking directly the phase field model to the CALPHAD thermodynamic database. The comparison of the numerical calculations for the Ni-Cu real solution and the Ni-Cu ideal solution shows that the addition of the excess energy has an important effect on the dendrite form.

Breves generator of pulses at different flow rates (40 GHz, 80 GHz and 160 GHz)
This work presents the realization by simulation a breves generator of pulse has different flow rates (40 GHz, 80 GHz, 160 GHz). In a first step, we have realized the source of short pulse train at 40 GHz by the non-line...
Optimization of the surface initiated polymerization of molecular imprinted methacrylate polymer on gold electrode for the detection of testosterone
In this work a sensor based on moleculary imprinted polymer (MIP) was fabricated to detect testosterone which is an endocrine disruptor. The methacrylic MIP is polymerized on the gold electrode surface, through the graft...
Optimization of the Raw Material Input Molar Ratio on the Carbothermal Production of Solar-Grade Silicon
With the fast growth of solar cells market, it is strongly required to improve the fabrication process of solar-grade silicon, which is the base material for more than 93% of solar cells technology. Conventionally, solar...
Study of different parameters effects on threshold voltage of CNTFET
In this paper, we have studied the effect of different parameters on threshold voltage of CNTFET devices using a numerical model developed with the Non-Equilibrium Greens Function approach in real space. In fact the work...
Modification of the Thermally Exfoliated Vermiculite by Sonication and Grafting Methods
In the present study, the thermally exfoliated vermiculite has been sonicated in order to grafting with the butyl-imidazolium. A suspension of vermiculite-water with 1% of concentration was sonicated at 20 KHz. This led...
