The study sample was selected by multistage cluster sampling method and at first was performed with available sampling method in Education District 7 and then Shahid Mahshid Mosallanejad School was selected completely randomly and two classes of elementary second grade of this school including 76 students selected and then 38 students, from each class 19 students, were selected randomly and the students that class list individual score belonged to them were distributed into two experimental and control groups. The experimental group received the necessary training for a month and a half months (18 sessions, three sessions a week, 70 minutes per session). In this study, plays’ training sessions were taught by the researcher. To collect data, Iran Key-math mathematics test, direct digit span test, reverse Wechsler test and Tower of London test were used. To analyze data, analysis of covariance test and SPSS software were used.Findings: The results showed that mathematics teaching in the form of playing affects executive functions and leads to mathematical performance improvement of students of the elementary second grade. Conclusion: Mathematics teaching in the form of playing in addition to promote executive functions, improves mathematical ability of students as well, so it is worthy that in the elementary school curriculum more attention will be paid to play-based teaching in mathematics lesson.
