THE EPR METHOD INVESTIGATION OF FREE RADICALS IN POLYMER UHMWPE APPLIED IN THE BIOMEDICAL KNOTS OF THE FRICTION
Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2011, Vol 239, Issue 5
Abstract
In this paper, the results of EPR measuring of free radicals for two types of polyethylene of ultra high molecular weight: GUR 1020 and GUR 1050 are presented. Samples were irradiated by electron beam energy of 10 MeV and dose 26 kGy a number of times (i = 1, 2, 3, 4, or 6). With the increase of radiation, the amount of free radicals increases as well. In both cases of polyethylene GUR 1020 and GUR 1050, the effect of saturation at the maximum dose of radiation equal 156 kGy was not observed. This proves that both types of material show similar radiation resistance.

THE INFLUENCE OF LOADS AND ROTATIONAL SPEEDS ON BAINITIC RAIL STEEL IN WEAR IN SLIDING PAIRS ON AN AMSLER STAND
The developing world industry causes an increase in transport and train speeds. In this way, the rolling-sliding contact surface of rails subject to load lead to effort placed on material. The result of effort is increas...

ANALYSIS OF THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF TiN/Si3N4 NANOCOMPOSITE COATING IN SLIDING CONTACT WITH CERAMIC, STEEL, AND POLYMER COUNTERPART
In this work, the friction and wear of a hard TiN/Si3N4 nanocomposite coating in sliding contact with Al2O3 ceramic, 100Cr6 steel, and PTFE polymer balls were analysed. The coating was deposited on Vanadis 23 high-speed...
COMPARATIVE BENCH TESTS OF NEW GENERATION POLYMER RESIN BONDING FRICTION BRAKES
Prototype friction brakes with lining made of modified resin bonding were the subject of the studies. The idea of polymer modification in a tribochemical way, leading to a decrease of its toughness, resulted in grafting...
FATIGUE STRENGTH IMPROVEMENT OF STEEL ROLLERS IN CONVEYOR BELTS WHEN USING SHOT PEENING
Numerous factors influence the tribological wear of steel rollers used in conveyor belts. The difficulty in precise determination of these factors results from, among others, a complex and not completely explored wear me...
