The Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of Effects on the Cooling Performance of Nozzle Structure in Adiabatic Cooling Systems

Abstract

Global warming, rise in life standards, and so on increase the demand for cooling and air-conditioning systems every passing day. Various methods are used to enhance the performance of these systems. One of these methods is the use of evaporative condenser in cooling systems. This study makes an experimental analysis of the effects of using evaporative condenser in cooling systems on system performance. The condenser unit of the experimental system was cooled through adiabatic humidification method. Adiabatic humidification process was carried out by using nozzles with diameters of 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 mm. The system was thermodynamically analyzed for the use of air-cooled condenser and different nozzle diameters, thereby comparing the cooling performances of the system. The obtained data shows that the use of evaporative condenser led to a decrease of 8.48% in the work of compressor, an increase of 32.92% in the COP value of the cooling system, and an increase of 18.43% in the COP value of the entire system.
