The extra-dictionary lexicon in Vasyl Stus’ works.

Abstract
In the article a lexicographic analysis of Vasyl Stus’ extra-dictionary lexicon has been accomplished. The grammatical features and lexical meanings of the words used in his collection of works “Palimpsest” which have not entered the standard dictionary are investigated. Some concrete addenda to dictionary entries of the editions of the “Dictionary of the Ukrainian language” are suggested. As it has been found out, a considerable percentage of the Ukrainian language lexicon is not included in explanatory dictionaries for different meta-linguistic factors. It has been observed that the language picture of the world cannot be considered complete without idio-lexicons of each separate writer. This fact stipulates a conclusion about an indissoluble connection between the individual author’s use of words and their general usage. Within the frame of the elaborated material the following findings are singled out: 1) a group of the language units in usage which are not included into the register of the Dictionary of the Ukrainian language (SUM); 2) new phonetic and word-forming variants of the words of general use which are not fixed in the SUM; 3) the author’s individual lexemes alias poetonyms. As it is underlined in the article, a notable group of language units in common usage need to be fixed lexicographically because it is a considerable one and its components’ registration can easily be continued. Unfortunately, the illustrative examples from Vasyl Stus’ poetry are absent in the “Dictionary of the Ukrainian language” entries. Phonetic and word-forming variants of lexemes of the general usage are represented on a less scale compared to the previous group but, nevertheless, it helps create the original language picture of the poet’s worldview. It is noticed that the group which makes the author’s individual lexemes has the most frequency of occurrence. From the point of view of word-formation they have a non-uniform structure, in particular, they include such stems as -samo, -sto, -vse, -zhyttie in associations with lexemes of usual usage value. A number of lexemes from the “Dictionary of Vasyl Stus’ poetic diction” have been analysed. Certain corrective amendments concerning interpretation of the author’s individual lexemes are introduced. It is proved that Vasyl Stus’ idiolect is a synthesis of the author’s individual use and general usage. The poet resorts to his own word-formation ways not only for reasons of more exact illumination of thoughts but also for the rendering of the national-cultural information. The writer’s language practice is a rich material for the supplementation of the register of the contemporary dictionary of the Ukrainian language.
