THE FIRST BOOK OF TOCCATAS G. FRESCOBALDI: INNOVATIVE AND PRIME EXAMPLE OF BAROQUE FANTASY STYLE

Abstract
The historical and cultural context of conceiving the Italian clavier toccata is considered. The sources and features of clavier toccata genre and it’s bounds with free improvisation style are explored. The features of instrumental music style “stylus fantasticus” as an example of the baroque improvisation are exposed. The short analysis of pieces from “The First Book Of Toccatas” G.Frescobaldi is made with aim to expose it’s improvisation characteristics. The several mane principles of correct style performance of this pieces is noted with a help of Frescobaldi’s comments to his opus.
