Journal Title: Mintage journal of pharmaceutical and medical sciences - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 6

Abstract

Objective: main objective of this study is to investigate lack of reporting medical errors in Ganji Hospital of Borazjan City. Methodology : the method used in this study is descriptive- correlational that in summer 2017 was performed in statistical population of 600 nurses from Borazjan Ganji Hospital. Totally, 150 nurses responded the questionnaire with random stratified method. For collecting data, questionnaire including 1- demographic features (age, gender and academic degree), 2- lack of reporting clinical error has been used and data was analyzed using SPSS software. Results: R2= 0.05shows that the variable of fear factor has explained about 5% of changes of lack of error reporting. Regarding the significance of qui-square test, age and type of employment of nurses were introduced as the greatest obstacles. On the other hand, the results showed that based on test results, t test rate is 0.603 and regarding the obtained significance level (0.735), in confidence level 95%, the hypothesis of zero regression factor of lack of awareness of medical errors report significance is confirmed. In other words, the direct impact of factor of lack of awareness of significance of medical errors on lack of reporting clinical errors is rejected. R2 =0.116 shows that the variable of hiding the colleagues work about 11.6% of changes of lack of reporting clinical errors have been explained. R2= 0.66 shows that variable of fearing blame and criticism of supervisor about 6% explains changes of lack of error reporting. Discussion and conclusion: therefore, training reporting clinical errors should be one of operational objectives of medical sciences universities in general and hospitals in particular and this should be considered in training planning.
