The impact of mental fatigue on a preloaded cycling-time trial in the heat
Journal Title: Journal of Science and Cycling - Year 2016, Vol 5, Issue 2
Abstract
Mental fatigue is a change in psychobiological state caused by prolonged periods of demanding cognitive activity and has been observed to decrease whole-body endurance performance [1-5]. Recently a decreased resting-state cerebral blood-flow in the fronto-parietal cortex in the heat compared to in thermoneutral temperature was observed [6], raising the question whether mental fatigue may be even more detrimental for wholebody endurance performance in the heat. In normal ambient temperatures, performancedecrements of 5% [2] and 2% [4] have been observed in self-paced time trials (TT) due to mental fatigue.

Relationship between physiological and biomechanical variables with aerobic power output in cycling
Performance in cycling may be determined by physiological and biomechanical parameters. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between biomechanical and physiological variables with aerobic power output in...
Influence of positional biomechanics on gross efficiency within cycling
Background: Research has found that manipulation of a single variable of bike-fit such as saddle height can improve performance within cycling efficiency (Peveler, & Green., 2010: Journal of Strength and Conditioning Res...
Attitudes towards doping in Spanish competitive female Cyclists vs. Triathletes
The aim of the present study was to know and compare the attitudes towards doping in Spanish competitive female cyclists and triathletes. All the female cyclists and triathletes who competed (U23 and elite) under license...
Thermoregulation during incremental exercise in masters cycling
This article follows a recently published work (Bertucci et al. 2012) on the effects of age on observed asymmetry during the mechanical process of pedaling for masters cyclists who concern the majority of practitioners....
The Effects of Varied Terrain and Bicycle Fitting on Aerobic Power Production: Test methodology
Background: Elite cycling occurs over varied terrain and distances, within all of these events the need to maximise performance is of paramount importance. This can be in the form of specific training, nutrition plan or...
