THE IMPORTANCE OF FESTIVALS AS A RURAL TOURISM ATTRACTIVENESS

Abstract
Festivals that were popular in worldwide and had important role to increase the awareness of destinastions contribute to development of tourism activities. We can define festivals as traditional activities that were organised by local habitants in specified dates at regular intervals and were became the symbol of region. Specially, local festivals that include local shows like dance shows, spor activities, concerts, exhibitions are very important to bring rural tourism attractions into the forefront and promote rural tourism destinations. This study is investigated the importance of local festivals on rural tourism development both as part of rural attractions and as one of advertisement tool of rural tourism destinations. Although local festivals contribute promotion of rural tourism destinations, also these organisations can increase buoyancy in rural tourism area at festival time. Rural tourism area would be accompanied by influx of tourists at festival time. Also festivals have important contributions to promotion of country and destination that were organized in. Activities that organised in destinations like festivals, sportive organisations have important contributions branding of these destinations. Commonly, festivals started anonymously in local community at uncertain times. But, local administrations, local community and private enterprises must struggle to increase awareness of festivals and organise it succesfully. Succesful festivals can create high brand recognition and bring more tourists to destinations.
