The influence of system services and distributed generation on peak load management in the National Power System

Abstract
The importance of determined generation and system services in the National Power System rises constantly. Similar changes happen all over the Europe. The first part of the work presents the peak load definition and indicators related to it, such as, peak load to installed capacity coefficient. Polish, German, and European (ENTSO-E’s) system parameters have been analyzed. The next part characterizes the European power generation base and shows a comparison of the National Power System and other European systems based on similar installed capacities. The final section introduces the catalogue of system services prepared by the Transmission System Operator and presents a realization of chosen services. The publication aims to show the importance of system services in the safe exploitation of the National Power System in the conditions of dynamic change of energy production in Poland and in Europe.
